If you’re in the market for a new car or truck, you definitely want to get the best deal possible. But with markups, extra costs, and other hidden fees that you might not see on the price tag, it can feel like you aren’t getting the price you want to pay. Fortunately, with some careful planning and foresight and a trip to Nesmith Chevrolet Buick GMC, you can drive away knowing that you got the perfect car at the perfect price.

Visit a Reputable Dealer

It’s a good idea to stick with licensed dealers and avoid “special” used car lots that advertise cars at crazy low prices-- usually, there’s going to be a catch in the form of hidden fees or other surprises. With a good dealer, you’ll know that you’re not only getting the best price, but the best car for your money.

Check out some reviews of your dealer before you visit the lot. Good dealers should have lots of satisfied customers. Our five-star reviews on Facebook speak for themselves.

Get Prequalified for a Loan

If you know that you’ll be financing your car, visit your local bank or credit union and get prequalified for an auto loan. Usually, these folks can give you a great interest rate and being prequalified when you step onto the lot gives you leverage to negotiate with your seller. However, it's likely that your dealer can match or even get you a better rate and this ultimately leaves your line of credit open for other purchases. Be open to all opportunities and talk through the options with your salesperson.

Watch the Time of Day, Month, and Year

At certain times of the year, like around the holidays, you’ll often see dealers offering specials on some or all of their inventory, and you can use these specials to your advantage. Generally, we offer specials throughout the year and you can ask your salesperson for an idea of what deals are going on as you shop.

Be Flexible

Rather than setting your heart on one particular model, have a list of vehicles that you’d be happy to buy. Your dealer may not have one type of car on the lot, but they may be able to offer you an incredible deal on a different car. As long as you’re getting your basic wants and needs (like gas mileage, vehicle size, etc.), then being flexible on the specifics can potentially save you thousands of dollars.

Come visit us at Nesmith Chevrolet and we'll be happy to get you into the car you love at the right price with no hassle.
